Shiba Inu Announces Some Key Features Through an Ecosystem Upgrade
The marketing executive of Shiba Inu, Lucie, announced the implementation of a significant upgrade to Shibarium on Friday at 2:30 a.m. (ET) at block 4697000. The upgrade will integrate the Cancun hard fork and update the Bor software to version 1.3.7-bone-beta, incorporating the latest advancements from Ethereum’s core software, Geth.
Overview of the Upgrades – Ethereum on Shibarium
By integrating Geth, Shibarium’s testnet will feature the same features and security found in Ethereum, including faster execution of smart contracts, peer-to-peer networking, and enhanced block propagation. Furthermore, the upgrade will enhance the proof-of-stake (PoS) bridge, improving cross-chain asset transfer between Shibarium and other blockchains.
In addition to improving cross-chain transfers, the upgrade will optimize gas fees for efficient and affordable transactions, as well as prune historical block data from the nodes to save disk space, ensuring that Shibarium remains lightweight despite future network growth.
The upgrade also emphasizes enhanced security for blockchain networks, improving error handling, rolling out vulnerability patches, and fixing bugs to ensure a secure network. Users can expect stable cross-chain transfers, faster transactions, enhanced security, and improved disk management following the upgrade.
Node operators are encouraged to update their software to version 1.3.7-bone-beta before the Cancun hard fork to avoid service disruption and ensure continued participation in Shibarium.
Importance of the Upgrade
This upgrade exemplifies Shibarium’s commitment to future-proofing the network and benefiting developers, users, and the overall ecosystem, as noted by Lucie. The team’s dedication to optimizing the network has been demonstrated through significant features introduced to Shibarium’s mainnet, such as predictable gas fees and fast transactions following previous hard forks in May.
These enhancements are a result of continuous efforts to optimize Shibarium, focusing on Puppynet and introducing significant features to Shibarium’s mainnet through various hard forks. The Heimdall upgrade provided Shibarium with deterministic finality, while the Bor hard fork improved the efficiency of state sync confirmation.
