Vitalik Buterin, The Ethereum CEO States Some Comparison Between Zk Rollups And Optimism Rollups.

The Ethereum CEO, Vitalik Buterin was talking about the ZK rollup launched by Polygon. He highlighted the distinction of zk rollup as compared to optimism rollups in the video tweeted by the Crypto Texan.

According to the series of tweets on 20th July by Polygon, the Polygon zero Knowledge EVM which is the first scaling solution that works error-free with all current contracts, developer tools, and wallets, has been released.

The protocol is nearest to the Ethereum Virtual Machine, the software framework that developers work with to build dApps on Ethereum. As stated by the builder, the zk EVM works with all current smart contracts and others as stated earlier.

Vitalik Buterin Highlighted Some Advantages Of zk Rollups

The CEO of Ethereum highlighted some of the benefits of zk rollups in the video interview he had. He stated;

  • The speed at which the users can do transactions with their assets.
  • Developers will no longer wait for a week before they can deposit and withdraw assets. With the zk rollups, the transaction will now be 15 minutes to 3 hours.
  • He also spoke on the security offered by the Zk rollups which is more than that of optimistic rollups. “[Another advantage is that] zk-rollups lower security risk even if the rollup has a very high capacity,” Buterin was quoted as saying.

He finally added, “zkEVMs will make lots of things more amazing at L1 and L2,”.

Facts about zkEVM

As said earlier, the zkEVM is a virtual machine that performs smart contracts in a way that is compatible with zero-knowledge-proof computation. zkEVM keeps EVM semantics, but is also ZK-friendly and takes on traditional CPU architectures.

More also ZK Rollups are a layer 2 scaling that uses validity proofs to scale computation: each batch of transactions comes with a cryptographic proof (ZK-SNARK) that is verified by an Ethereum smart contract. This way every single transaction is fully verified by all Ethereum full nodes before a block is finalized
