Peersyst Technology Advances XRPL EVM Sidechain with Notable Upgrades and Ripple Advisor’s Praise
Peersyst Technology recently shared a noteworthy update via Twitter, capturing the attention of Antony Welfare, Digital Currency Advisor at Ripple. The company reported significant progress on its XRPL Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) sidechain, building upon the capabilities previously announced in October 2022.

The most recent enhancements signal the EVM sidechain’s imminent move towards its mainnet launch. A video accompanying the announcement showcased remarkable strides in the XRPL EVM’s development. Notably, the team achieved a performance boost, reducing block time from 5.4 seconds to a swift 3.5 seconds—akin to XRPL’s block time.

The advancement also included the integration of a proof-of-authority (PoA) algorithm catering to validators. This innovation serves to mirror the governance framework of the mainnet, enhancing consistency.
Beyond this, the development team upgraded the Tendermint consensus algorithm to the latest Comet BFT version, renowned for its power and efficiency. Impressively, these upgrades are already live, and accessible through MetaMask Wallet by selecting the appropriate network.
In parallel, enhancements were made to the bridge connecting the EVM sidechain and the primary XRP Ledger network. A fully distributed bridge, named Witness Bridge, was introduced, leveraging Ripple’s XLS 38D Amendment. This development ensures seamless interoperability via exchange transactions—a pivotal accomplishment.
The update garnered acclaim from the XRP community, with Ripple CBDC Advisor Antony Welfare applauding Peersyst Technology’s collaboration with the XRP Ledger Foundation (XRPLF). Welfare expressed particular excitement over MetaMask wallets being able to interface with EVM sidechains on XRPL.
