Shiba Inu-Themed Burger Joint Shares More Details About Recent Exploit And Shiba Inu Might Soon Get a Utility Boost.
Welly, a Shiba Inu-themed burger joint, has provided an update about a recent phishing exploit.
Last week, the Italian fast-food restaurant revealed that its Discord channel had suffered a security breach, with bots posting malicious links for about half an hour to redirect users to a bogus minting website.
Scammers were only able to steal up to 10 ETH ($17,573) worth of non-fungible tokens, Metaverse land, and other assets, according to the announcement. Most of the stolen assets have been returned, and it is working with OpenSea, the largest NFT marketplace, to further mitigate the damage. Welly states that the losses have been reduced thanks to the fast response of the defense and growth districts of the Metaverse. The aforementioned departments are now working on a full audit to find out exactly how the attack was performed.

Despite eliminating its plans to mitigate NFTs last year due to community backlash, Discord remains a popular destination for cryptocurrency enthusiasts. Hackers often aimed at crypto-related channels, attempting to trick users into clicking phishing links and parting ways with their crypto holdings or NFTs. Last week, the company behind the Bored Apes Yacht Club collection, admitted that the BAYC Discord channel was hacked, with malicious actors stealing $360,000 worth of NFTs.
Welly became part of the Shiba Inu community after performing a full rebrand in February. As reported by Cryptolifedigital the burger joint announced that it would start burning SHIB tokens in late April.
Shiba Inu Might soon get a Utility Boost.
Shiba Inu’s community is ripping with excitement following reports that Shiberium, a layer-2 blockchain around the network, is almost complete. Several reports have proposed that the Shibarium testnet will be released in June with the strongest indicator being the $XFUND Mainnet upgrade expected in May.
Shiytoshi Kusama, the lead developer of Shiba Inu has dropped several cryptic hints about the development. His latest clue was a GIF that was captioned “laughter in Shibarium,” which the community member construed as a positive sign. Shiba Inu enthusiasts are quick to recall Unification’s announcement early in the year that Shibarium’s private testnet development had proceeded to the second stage.
The excitement around Shibarium is not far-fetched. A blog post by the team noted that transactions would be “approved in seconds for pennies,” fanning the embers of hope for cheaper transaction fees. Kusama corroborated this on Shiba Discord that “Shibarium will offer low fees for every service, game or whatever that builds on it.”
