Ripple CEO Praises Trump’s VP for Challenging SEC’s Anti-Crypto Stance
Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse recently commended U.S. Senator James David Vance for his outspoken criticism of SEC Chair Gary Gensler’s perceived biased approach to crypto regulation. Vance’s vocal disapproval of Gensler’s stance has recently gained attention within the crypto community, particularly following his nomination as Donald Trump’s running mate.
Vance Takes on SEC Regulation
In a widely circulated video, Vance voiced his concerns about the SEC’s regulation of cryptocurrencies, particularly highlighting what he sees as the regulator’s arbitrary handling of tokens based on their perceived utility. He argued that the SEC’s actions appear to disproportionately target tokens with genuine utility, such as XRP, Cardano, and Solana, while seemingly overlooking meme coins like Dogecoin, which have substantially higher market values.

Vance emphasized the potential adverse impact of the SEC’s regulatory approach on crypto innovation. He warned that by stifling high-utility tokens, the SEC could hinder the emergence of new blockchain-based companies, potentially impeding their ability to compete with established social media platforms.

Ripple’s Brad Garlinghouse welcomed Vance’s remarks, applauding the senator’s forward-thinking perspective and his recognition of blockchain technology as a driver of American innovation. Garlinghouse expressed support for elected officials who align with Vance’s vision and emphasized the importance of enabling, rather than hindering, technological progress in the United States.
Vance’s favourable stance on cryptocurrencies was previously evidenced by his criticism of legislation granting banks the authority to freeze accounts without a court order, citing it as a contributing factor to the growing prominence of cryptocurrencies.
