Rep. Sherman Did Not Admit The Fox Report On His Comments On XRP

Rep. Sherman refuted the FOX report on his comments on XRP. Recall, FBN’s Gasparino once stated that Rep. Sherman displayed a kind of confidence that SEC would win the lawsuit against Ripple.

According to the FBN report, Sherman notified the SEC to expand the lawsuit to include cryptocurrency exchanges that facilitated the trading of XRP across their various platforms.

As reported by Crytpolifedigital, the Ripple executives reacted to the comments made on Tuesday by Brad Sherman, D-California, where he said the SEC should still go after the crypto exchanges transacting the Ripple token, XRP.

Sherman, who is the Chair of a Congressional subcommittee focused on the SEC’s enforcement division, said in an oversight hearing on Tuesday:

“The division has determined that XRP is a security and is going after XRP but, for reasons that I’ll bring up in question, has not gone after the exchanges where tens of thousands of illegal securities transactions were occurring.”

He added: “You know [XRP] is security. That means they were illegally operating a securities exchange.”

One of Ripple’s Executives and General Counsel, Stuart Alderoty reacted to Sherman’s comment;

He stated that only the court can tag the token as a security, he quickly added that they should wait till the court bring out its decision on the case.

Rep. Sherman did not admit the Fox Report

As stated by Rep.Sherman, he has always been in contact with SEC’s chairman, Gary Gensler, and they sometimes speak about crypto assets. He added that their discussion hasn’t been centered on Ripple or its cryptocurrency, XRP.

 “I often speak to SEC Chair Gary Gensler, sometimes about Crypto, but never regarding XRP,” Rep. Sherman said.   He said that the point of their discussion so far is the testimony of director Gurbir Grewal.
