While The Ethereum Network Await The Merge, Ethereum Classic Releases A Firmware For Mining Their Native Crypto, ETC

As the Ethereum blockchain awaits the merge it can transition from the PoW to PoS.

As stated by Collin Wu, an Ethereum mining manufacturer Innosilicon has released ETC firmware for A10pro 500M and A10pro 720M servers for mining.

A translation of the official announcement reads: “Based on the future Ethereum consensus mechanism (algorithm) POW to POS situation, at the request of our customers, we have developed the ETC firmware for A10pro 500M and A10pro 720M servers, which have passed the test and are publicly released here for the convenience of the customer.”

The ETC will continue with the PoW consensus even with Ethereum’s preparation to switch to the PoS protocol. They said with PoS, the Ethereum will alter its block validation and the fabrication of the new Ethereum.

With the knowledge of this, Ethereum will no longer need the usage of the mining firmware but ETC will continue using rigs and firmware to mine its native crypto.

The ETC was pointing towards $39.85 at the time when the news was filed and over the last week, ETC spiked 54%.

Seems the recent attention of ETC is because AntPool, the mining pool connected to the mining rig behemoth, Bitmain, disclosed investing an initial $10 million to promote the Ethereum Classic ecosystem.

Merge Ahead

The timetable for the final test of the merge is revealed on the Twitter handle of one of the Ethereum developers, Tim Beiko. Although he once released a breakdown of the event in the previous post filed by Cryptolifedigital.

After a series of the devnets, shadow forking and merges on the deprecated testnets. As reported by the Cryptolifedigital, a few weeks ago, the sepolia was transitioned to PoS this was after the merge has been run through the Ropsten testnet. Earlier on July 28th, the tenth shadow fork was successful even earlier than its timing.

 As reported by Cryptolifedigital ”the Bellatrix upgrade is slated to occur on August 4th, 2022 at exactly 12:24 pm UTC on reaching the epoch 112260 while Paris, the execution layer’s portion of the transition will be triggered on reaching the TTD of 10790000 on Georli between August 6^th – August 12^th, 2022.
