Recently on Twitter, Ripple’s CTO and one of the original architects of the XRP’s ledger David Schwartz gave an insight into the focus and vision that XRPL drives on.

The Initial conversation commenced at the time the web3 writer and XRP community member Panos Mekras spoke about his reservation for XRP purposes.

According to Mekras, The ideas of XRP were not solely for financial purposes or institutions but to focus on challenging banking monopoly and helping people.

Even though the asset later changed its direction to a banking system and cross-border payment.

Mekras mentioned that this step is to level the playing field for minor banks and to loosen the autonomy of the “SWIFT cartel” controlled by the big boys.

In agreement with the notion of Mekras, David Schwartz expresses his support for the conversation.

He accepted the thread as a good portrayal of XRP’s true intention and also elaborated on Ripple’s base of motivation.

Furthermore, the developer mentioned that the company’s idea of pivoting to payment in 2014 was influenced by the way the ecosystem was flourishing at that time, the XRP’s Ledger’s Decentralized Exchange (DEX).

The daily volume experienced on the ledger portrayed the presence of valid economic activity, as such it serves as a measure for Ripple to focus on creating an enterprise payment system supported in cryptocurrency.

The emphasis of Schwartz was that Ripple know the value of the XRP ledger to foster payment, but did not attempt to constrain its function to this effect.

Schwartz accepted that the ideal focus of XRP was basically to replicate the giant Bitcoin’s functionality while supporting multiple assets natively in the same vain, which will activate cross-currency and cross-issuers payment as well as exchanges.
